Well, we're doing it again!
My husband, Lynn, and I have decided to take our motorbikes across Canada again because Canada is, well, a BIG PLACE and you could probably go across 50 times and not see everything. We're shooting to leave on May 23, 2019. Yes, this will be another camping trip although I once again reserve unquestionable veto rights to get a hotel room in the case of exigencies such as bugs the size of VW buses, snow and/or sub zero temps or sheer exhaustion and the absolute requirement of a very good shower and room service.
Our first trip across in 2013 was amazing. We were gone for 50 days and if you're interested in reading about that trip, you can check out our Canadian Roadtrip Art Project blog here. This first Cross-Canada roadtrip became the inspiration for my art show at the Station House Gallery, in Williams Lake, BC, which ran in 2014. To see some of that work, I've posted some photos at the end of the Canadian Roadtrip Art Project blog. You can also check out my website: www.klbart.com, my Facebook Art Page "Kathy Lauriente-Bonner Art" or my Instagram account - @kathylaurientebonnerart
This year, we will spend 60 days and will try some new routes to see different places: Eastern Townships of Quebec, Quebec City, Niagra Falls, a bit of Maine, the southern half of Nova Scotia, Isle de Madeleine, St. Pierre de Miquelon, more time in Gros Morne including the fjord boat trip, Glacier National Park and the Going To The Sun highway, etc. Of course, some places, like Cape Breton, the Bona Vista Peninsula, parts of PEI, Nova Scotia etc., are worthy of repeat visits so there will be some overlap with our first trip.
I will post some pre-trip entries on minutiae such as gear and prep lists for those interested in that kind of thing. I'll also put up our loose itinerary although we tend not to make too many firm plans so there's the caveat that we may not follow it faithfully. (We prefer to travel fairly spontaneously and go and stop when inspiration moves us.)
We will post in this blog along the way so stay tuned! Thanks for joining us!
